Kyphi was not a perfume in the modern sense. It was a compound of sixteen ingredients resins, wine, honey, raisins, myrrh kneaded, aged, and burned in the temples as the sun went down, and the recipe survives in full on the walls at Edfu and Philae.
This is not a reconstruction of it; a literal one would be undrinkable smoke. It is what that ritual smells like from the far side of the courtyard: black iris and incense above, patchouli and cistus at the centre, burnt wood and benzoin at the end. The most concentrated thing the house makes.
