Duat Obscura

The Duat is the Egyptian underworld, and the texts describe it as a night river the sun must travel before it can rise again. Twelve hours, each with its own gate. The perfumers of the period burned resin at every one of them.

Duat Obscura is built on that passage. Cold bergamot and elemi give way almost immediately to night iris and a smoked Laotian oud; leather, ash, and grey ambrette hold the drydown for the better part of a day. Released in a single numbered run of 300 flacons, hand-sealed in black wax.
